چکیده
ISTORY tive Hawaiians are descended from Polynesian mmunities that explored the Pacific Islands. Even with arrival of Westerners in the late 18th century, the tive Hawaiian population in Hawaii remained relatively ble at approximately 800,000 to 1 million (Tsark, ecial Communication, 2001). A hundred years later, wever, the population dwindled to nearly 40,000 due deaths from disease and war. In the last century, tive Hawaiians have been increasing in number and stablishing their cultural heritage (Akau et al., 1998).
